WHY APC CANT FULFILL ITS PROMISES
Embattled National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives
Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has revealed five reasons why his party has
been unable to fulfill any of its campaign promises, 10 months after its
inauguration in May 2015.
Speaking in the London in United Kingdom Oyegun at the first
summit of the United Kingdom chapter of the APC, he reaffirmed his party's
commitment to fulfilling all the promises it made to Nigerians in the build up
to the 2015 General elections.
The summit, with the theme “Sustainable Development in
Nigeria,” was chaired by Richard Fuller, member of the British Parliament for
Bedford and Kempton, and the Vice Chair, All Parties Parliamentary Group (APPG)
– Nigeria, was attended by members of APC across the UK, the party’s
representatives from the Scandinavia and the invited British guests.
According to the APC National chairman, these are the reasons
why the APC has been unable to fulfill any of its promises thus far:
The scale of corruption in Nigeria is one of the reasons the
APC has been severely restricted from immediate delivery of electoral promises.
This had also affected fixing quick wins like evacuating
generated electricity to the national grid.
The APC chairman also said the APC government is currently
hamstrung by the near collapse of global oil price which has adversely affected
the amount of money available to the government to carry out some of its
programmes.
While urging the British government to continue to support
the Buhari administration, Oyegun said President Buhari is currently focusing
his energy into fighting corruption which he said was the main cause of
infrastructural deficit in the country.
Speaking on developing sustainable infrastructure from the
perspective of the party’s manifesto, Odigie Oyegun however, reaffirmed the
party’s commitment to invest in critical infrastructure like energy, rail and
roads to drive the country’s development.
