"The Federal Appointees Strategic Summit brought together key federal government officials to deliberate on government programmes, achievements, challenges and strategies for strengthening the implementation and communication of the administration’s agenda."
“This is a strategic Summit of top political appointees of government. We are referring to Ministers, Special Advisers, Chairmen and CEOs of Agencies.” Sen. Akume.
..... Says the summit would provide an opportunity to examine the administration’s scorecard and determine the extent to which government interventions had made a positive difference in the lives of Nigerians."
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has urged ministers, special advisers, chairmen and chief executive officers of federal agencies to intensify efforts to communicate the achievements of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to Nigerians.
Akume made the call on Wednesday in Abuja while addressing participants at the Federal Appointees Strategic Summit, saying the meeting was aimed at taking stock of the administration’s achievements and assessing how government policies and programmes had affected the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
He described the summit as a strategic platform bringing together key political appointees and heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to review what had been achieved and how such achievements could translate into tangible improvements for citizens.
“This is a strategic Summit of top political appointees of government. We are referring to Ministers, Special Advisers, Chairmen and CEOs of Agencies,” Akume said.
According to him, the summit would provide an opportunity to examine the administration’s scorecard and determine the extent to which government interventions had made a positive difference in the lives of Nigerians.
He therefore charged ministers and heads of government agencies to take responsibility for communicating the policies, programmes and achievements of their respective institutions in a clear and accessible manner.
Akume stressed that the gathering was not designed to evaluate or judge individual ministers or agencies, but to take stock of achievements across MDAs and determine how such achievements could improve the lives of citizens.
“We are not evaluating. What we are doing is taking stock of what has been achieved by each Ministry and every Agency, and how we are able to influence the lives of the ordinary people,” he said.
He urged participants to be open and constructive during the sessions, encouraging them to share their experiences, challenges and perspectives on the implementation of government programmes.

Dr Henry Dele Alake |
Also speaking, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Henry Dele Alake, said the summit provided an opportunity for ministries, agencies, boards and other federal institutions to present their achievements and demonstrate their contributions to the Tinubu administration.
Alake urged participants to see the exercise as a presentation of the collective scorecard of officials appointed by the President.
He said the administration had recorded “significant and unprecedented strides” since its inception, adding that the achievements were based on tangible facts and should not be dismissed as mere rhetoric or political grandstanding.
The minister said the time had come for the government to communicate its accomplishments more effectively to Nigerians and demonstrate their impact across sectors.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu |
The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, said President Tinubu’s decision to contest the 2023 presidential election was driven by his determination to tackle longstanding challenges facing the country and make difficult but necessary choices in the national interest.
Bagudu said the Renewed Hope Agenda was not merely a campaign slogan but the product of careful consideration of Nigeria’s circumstances and the choices required to move the country forward.
He commended Akume for convening the summit, describing it as an important platform for federal appointees to collectively review and communicate the achievements recorded under the administration.
