.... Urges Nigerians to "Stay alert, stay safe.”
The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund has warned Nigerians, particularly job seekers, against fake recruitment advertisements and appointment letters being circulated by fraudsters in the name of the agency.
The warning was contained in a public notice issued by the Fund and circulated to its Regional and Branch Managers in a memorandum dated October 5, 2026, signed by the Executive Director, Administration, Samaila Abdu, Esq.
The NSITF stated that it was not currently recruiting for any position, describing recruitment advertisements circulating on social media, particularly Facebook, as fraudulent.
The Fund said the fake advertisements were part of a growing scheme by individuals and groups falsely claiming to represent the organisation and offering employment opportunities to unsuspecting members of the public.
It warned Nigerians not to respond to such advertisements or make payments to anyone in connection with purported NSITF employment.
The agency stressed that it does not charge applicants any fee for employment and does not conduct recruitment through unofficial social media platforms or other unauthorised channels.
According to the Fund, whenever genuine vacancies become available, they would be announced through its official communication channels.
“Stay alert, stay safe,” the NSITF urged, advising members of the public who come across suspicious recruitment advertisements or requests to report them to the appropriate authorities.
As part of measures to protect job seekers and safeguard the integrity of its recruitment process, the management directed all Regional and Branch Managers to prominently display the warning notice at strategic locations within their offices.
The directive covers reception areas, main entrances and exits, notice boards, SERVICOM desks and other conspicuous locations accessible to staff and members of the public.
The Fund directed that the notice be displayed immediately and kept visible to ensure that visitors and members of the public are adequately informed about the fake recruitment schemes.
The warning comes amid growing cases of fraudulent online recruitment schemes targeting unemployed Nigerians with promises of government jobs in exchange for money or personal information.
The NSITF therefore urged job seekers to exercise caution and verify all recruitment claims through its official communication channels before responding or providing personal information.
